Luckily however, I kind of knew what position last week was gunna put me in in relation to my blog, so I wrote down all the things I could remember from Sunday to Wednesday : ) ...Now I just need to remember the rest : |
(Yes, and on Sunday when I was cleaning my room, I chucked it in the bin with a lot of apple cores and tea bags...Then went ahead and scavenged through my bin this morning...It's a tad stinky with A LOT of tea stains :S)
Okay, so here it goes.

: : Sunday : :
Okay, so Sunday, nothing much happened. It was week two so we went to Mammie's house for lunch.
Before lunch and after my shower we received a phone call from MUMMY! Hehe - after much asking whether she could call or not as I hadn't really been contacting her all that much (my dad has msn, she doesn't).
We figured out all the flight details for Marine to come to Australia, it was all a little confusing trying to explain little details like what a travel agent was etc. But I think we got there in the end.
I told mum how school was going and began telling her about the night before (hehe, I skipped the part where Marine started and finished a whole packet of cookies...*cough cough* hehe, I'm pretty sure I left that out of the blog too...whoooops).
We were late getting to Mammie's house but we arrived all the same : ).
We played a game on a little piece of paper that my host-mum's English student had shown her the day before.
(Here it is in English)
1. Complete the Sequence: M T W _ _ _ _
2. Write a text at random
3. Add one line so that 5 + 5 + 5 = 550
4. Draw a rectangle with three lines

: : Monday : :
Monday was extremely loooooong. We had lessons all day with only a one hour break for lunch - starting at 8am and finishing at 6pm.
During Spanish I was bored and did my maths homework...
We finished the day with a two hour French test where we had to analyse a poem by Bauldelaire. Luckily for me it was a poem that I had already studied for my shorted piece on Baudelaire. I didn't bother reading it again, as I knew that the French would confuse me as I knew the ENGLISH version, hehe.
After spending the first hour writing 2.5 pages in French (I can't even remember what I wrote about!).
For the second hour I took to graffitying the back of the criteria sheet, drawing an animal spinning with my pen writing "mort" and adding "tick tock" and the hands of the clock with my time of death and, "Operation: Commentaire abandoné"...
(I'll see if I can get a picture up...)

Once Marine had handed our sheets in with 15 minutes to go, we took to listening to music (with our backs turned to the teacher) and eating the apples we had brought with us to school in our bags.
The teacher had a bit of a go at the class a few times for the noise levels - no different to Aus...
When class had finished, Marine and Cindy tried to take pictures of the teacher with their phones...haha, no success there.
Marine then went to take the roll (she had to look after it the whole week...haha, and kept leaving it everywhere and losing it, it was quite funny) and the teacher started talking to us...She talked to us for about 5 minutes about...a lot. The different English accents and how Marine was going to Australia were the main two topics.
We began to worry a bit about where Marine's mum thought we were, so we said goodbye and made our way outside to the normal meeting spot...And just like magic, my host mum's car pulled in to the curb : ).
---
Tuesday we ATE EARLY! Whooooooo! Hehe...yes, it's always exciting when you're the first ones in line for the canteen (then you don't have to wait half an hour on an empty stomach!).
Apparently the food wasn't very good (it wasn't too bad, bue meh, that's just me : )), so when we were in line we kept distracting the canteen ladies and taking extra mini-baguettes and cookies and yoghurts when they weren't looking (muahahahahhaha!), which we stuffed under our plates, in our pockets and bags.
Let's just say that that day we ate a loooooooot, haha. Marine and Sawdatou even took the spoons from the canteen to eat the extra yoghurts outside.
After eating, we went to the games room and asked for bats and a ball for the ping pong tables outside. Marine gave the lady her canteen card in exchange for them, and when the lady asked whether we wanted two or four bats, and we replied, 'three' we got a rather interesting look, followed by a laugh, haha.
---
Ping pong was fuuuuuuuuun : ). We filmed the games and put my camera on an automatic timer before running 20 metres to nearby trees where we had the camer expertly (haha, if I say so myself :P) zoomed.
---
We then found a nice patch of grass where we layed out our left over canteen food on our ping pong bats (haha, didn't actually end up eating it - instead we stuck flowers from a nearby flower patch up our noses...yes we are a tad bizarre - and I suggest you don't try that one at home as it results in your nose producing A LOT of snot :S).
---
When we decided it was time to return all our bats and the balls, me being my clumsy self stood up and crushed the poor ball :S. We panicked a little and worried that the lady wouldn't give Marine's canteen card back :S.
We tried to fix the ball by crushing it a little until there was a hole, which I then stuck the end of the spoon into and pushed the ball back into form. Still not passable : | haha.
Sawdatou then decided she would try and prove that it was usable and continued to bash it with her bat in an effort to play one-person ping pong...haha, you can imagine that this only made it worse!
---
Soooo, we decided we would change the story and say that we lost the ball...So we proceeded to hold a funeral for it : ) hehe.
Kind ball-murderers we are :D
We went searching for a place to dig a hole...but instead we found a pre-dug perfectly sized hole for the ball : ).
We placed him in there, covered him with leaves and stuck three sticks in the ground to mark his grave.
The people watching us throughout the whole lunch time seriously thought we were mad! haha.
---
Anyway, turned out the ball wasn't a big deal at all - -', just our luck!
PHOTOS OF WEDNESDAY
---
That night my host-parents got a bit distracted and completely forgot about the potatoes for dinner...you know that vegetable that takes a long time to cook? Hehe - so we ended up eating at 9:30pm...ooooops.
---
: : Wednesday : :
Wednesday wasn't Marine's day to be honest...After receiving some bad news that morning, maths consisted of us being excused and me doing some conforting as we walked around the school for half an hour. It worked : ) she moved on from sadness to laughing and smiling at everything...it was interesting...but still a change for the better.
We returned home for lunch - where Marine's good mood came to a bit of an end. So I gathered up two blocks of chocolate and a packet of chocolate biscuits and made a smiley face out of chocolate with the cookies piled up in the middle so it was a Rudolph (haha, because we "forgot" to go to my trumpet lesson with Rudolph :O haha). I told her that whenever she got a wave of sadness, to look at the chocolate and smile.
Instead, 15 minutes later, she came into my room and laughed, saying, "Becky, I ate Rudolphe!". Haha.
---
There wasn't a singing lesson that night...instead I got to watch my host-dad prepare cow tongue pasta for dinner...
I don't think I'll ever think of it the same again. At first I had never actually seen it (just the pictures) so it was fine, but when he lifted the lid and showed me then bubbling away, being boiled??? Nup.
No thanks...
Then I just happened to go downstairs and walk by the kitchen at the wrong time...Just as he had started cutting them up...: |

: : Thursday : :
Thursday, Marine and I were both really tired...after lunch, when we had three hours between lunch (which we ate early again!!!) and Communications, we took a place outside our Communications classroom where we listened to music...and both fell asleep. As in really, heavy sleeping.
One of the hall monitors with the annoying voice came up to us and called out, "AAAAY OOOOH!!!!!!!!!!". And then again...I opened my eyes the second time, but they were blurred and I was confused as I thought it must've been one of our friends...but no.
She then kicked Marine to wake her up. And told us that we couldn't even sit in the hallway...So we moved ourselves and found Sawdatou where we yet again played ping pong outside.
This time there was some wind and the ball went everywhere, but it was good fun all the same : )
---
During Communications I got really annoyed and frustrated with my lack of French understanding when it came to reading questions in French...
So I skipped a few questions and moved on the "create an original poster for a voyage from Soissons to London" question...which drew a lot of attention to my poster...unwanted attention...but meh, what can you do?
Then we had 15 minutes or so where I casually talked about Australia with the teacher and those students who wanted to listen, which was nice : ). Accidentally called the teacher, "tu" instead of "vous" though...oops...I think she understood : ).

: : Friday : :
Friday was the evaluation of ping pong in sport. HA! That was a bit of catastrophy for me, haha. Started at the last table, finished at the last table. Meh...the people at the last few tables just seemed to stop scoring and move wherever.
During the two hours of gestion before sport, Marine switched her phone onto "unidentified" we texted Yanis in English. Haha, he didn't understand and asked us to stop texting him in English, so we switched to Japanese and German. Haha, when he asked who it was, Marine texteed "Pistache" (Clement and Fabien's nickname for her) and when he received the message he shouted out, "PISTACHE!" haha. We also received a few paper balls with interesting drawings on them from Thomas and Yanis (hehe, I thought they were fish...but Marine convinced me otherwise).
The second hour was spent teaching Marine this song in Japanese that I've nad stuck in my head for the last few days now :S.
The teaching of the song, lasted all the way to sport, where I decided to show her the dance while simultaneously walking...HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! I scared a few people in the street, haha. And by the time we arrived at the sport venue (20 minutes walk :S), I was already huffing and puffing, having just finished the dance, haha.
---
During the 20 minutes it took to return back to school where my host-mum was picking us up, we took a retour to the town where I used my last few coins to buy Marine an apple pastry, which was quite nice : ).
With pastry in hand, we made our way down the street, where I was hit hard and heavily on my arm. I turned to see and woman wearing extremely high heels lying on the footpath beside me - at first I thought she had broken her ankle as it was twisted strangely, but she got up, with the help of the people she was with and some others in the street.
It turned out some boys had pushed her, hard. She turned around and strutted to where they were hiding around the corner, hands on hips. They denied it (duh! Especially being teenagers)...so she did nothing more.

: : Saturday : :
Saturday was Marine's singing competition.
After we had eaten lunch, we all braced ourselves for the hour long drive to a place north of Soissons. When we arrived the music was blaring, even though we were outside, in the parking area :S.
WE arrived at 2.30pm and Marine was at 4:00pm. We watching people of all ages sing before it was time for the modelling competition, which sported many rather interesing dresses...and just outfits in general which were bought or made by each competitor.
Once the parade was over and done with, it was time for Marine's group.
It was rather funny as Sandrine, my host-mum had started talking the poor girl next to her, haha, and didn't stop talking.
Marine was number one and the girl next to Sandrine was number two - they were both stressing, but luckily for them, the numbers were called at random, so they were both rather unlikely to be called.
Number two was called just before number one, however, Marine's CD didn't work, so she went later (she had told me that the year before she had to sing without the CD because it didn't work and that she bet it would happen again). However the second time, it worked and she was magnificent, with the little children and two women congradulating her when she was in the bathroom.

: : Sunday : :
One word. Homework.
Oh, and MOVIE! WOw, that movie was traumatising. It was "Jen's Body" :S. OOOOOH, don't even go there! The rating for movies here is verrrrrry different :S.
---
: : Monday : :
Wow, Monday was a bit of a scare. Marine collapsed in the morning.
We went to school for the first hour before her dad took us all to the doctor. The doctor informed us that Marine wasn't eating or sleeping enough, so we're all taking care of her now : ).
We took the rest of the day off and watched a movie before sleeping...We said, "just until 5pm"...haha, we got up at 6:30pm...
---
Didn't sleep well last night at all!
---
Today we started at 2pm, missing the test in Droit in the morning.
Before leaving to catch the mini-bus we had a wild scavenge for money as I had used my last coins on Marine's pastry on Friday...We didn't find much, but decided to give it a chance and go with 2 euros, 25 centiems instead of 3 euros 40...hehe
The mini-bus was 15 minutes late!!! And we started to panick, thinking he had forgotten us :S.
---
We arrived at school just as the bell rang before climbing up 3 levels :S (that's SIX staircases, people!) to Communications, where we were handed the test for Droit :S. Wasn't expecting that one!
I made up most of the answers :S.
Just before I started, however, Thomas asked me if I had a "fooo-oyyy" (haha, due to my spelling mistake on Facebook, feuille, not fouille, oops).
---
We went to check whether I had Arts Plastiques afterwards, but there was note on the door saying the teacher would be back at 4pm. So I went to get Marine's passport with her mum and her and never returned to school for arts plastiques, hehe.
I tried to sleep after we did our maths...but again no luck...probably something to do with the massive THUNDERSTOOOORM : ). Hehe, I walked into Marine's room and looked out her window, then started to say something started with, "c'est..." and she screamed, haha, she didn't realise I was in her room...
Anyway, afterwards, I finished this...wow, two hours of blog writing :S.
Now I need to do some trumpeting, even though it's 7:13pm...Maybe just the fingering : ).
---
Phrase of the day::
Marine: AAAAH, it's weird! It's 7:00pm and it's still light here. What about in Australia? Is it dark at 7pm?
Becky: *looks at Marine strangely* You're crazy...
Marine: *Blank look*
Becky: In winter, it's dark at 6pm, here, right? *nods for Marine* And the other day, the time changed one hour, right?
Marine: Oh...It's the same everywhere?
Becky: *Nods slowly*
Marine: haha, oops...
